A lot of work was done on the vision plan, but the price tag has frozen the project.
An architect from Colorado, who designed a Pueblo, Colorado riverwalk, created a master plan for the seven miles of Bear Creek that winds through Medford. Some of the suggestions included restaurants with creek side patios; benches by the water and signs pointing to the Bear Creek Greenway bike path. The goal is to encourage businesses to look backward if you will and have creek side frontage as well as on the street. Medford City Council members set goals in 1989 for Bear Creek's path through the city. Part of the goals was to include a better connection between Downtown Medford and Bear Creek and provide more recreational opportunities while orienting businesses toward the water. "We need to discover our opportunities and explore them one bite at a time with patience and persistence," says Densmore.
