Al's occupation as an Individual and Group Benefits Advisor for Western States Insurance and a Securities Registered Representative for Princor Securites keeps him in touch with the local community.
Al graduated from Reynolds High School as an Honors Graduate. He obtained a B.S. in Political Science from Portland State University and then an M.S. Secondary Education degree from Southern Oregon University.
Al was elected as one of the youngest representatives to the Oregon House of Representatives in 1971. He served in that capacity until 1977 when he decided to run for Mayor of Medford. Al challenged a long-term and well-known incumbent Mayor and won the race and served as Mayor of Meford from 1977 until 1983.
Al served as a Board Member of the Southern Oregon Education Service District from 1992-2007. Al has been serving as a City Council Representative for Ward 1 from 2007 to the present.
Al has served as President of the Bear Creek Valley Rotary Club. Al is a past member of the SOREDI Board of Directors. Al was the founding member of the Bear Creek Greenway Vision Plan. Al is a past President of the Bear Creek Greenway Foundation.
